The Mission District, one of San Francisco's oldest and culturally deep neighborhoods, is investing in senior housing by turning a vacant parking lot into 145 units of affordable housing. Developed by Mercy Housing California, 1633 Valencia represents a beacon of hope for the city's older residents who seek to age in place and maintain their community and cultural roots.
The studio apartments at 1633 Valencia are reserved for households 55 years or older earning 30-60% of the area median income (AMI). Residents have access to case management services through Felton Institute and amenities including a community room with a kitchen, bike storage, and a laundry room. This is the first development funded by the Bay Area Housing Innovation Fund, which provides financial assistance to increase the speed and lower the cost of constructing affordable housing in San Francisco.
NEF is proud to support the development of 1633 Valencia through our partnerships and capital solutions, which aid our mission of expanding the creation and preservation of affordable housing.
