The official grand opening of the Steps on St. Andrews not only brings 19 units of supportive housing for veterans and others exiting homelessness, it also aims to blend the new building with the historic residential neighborhood of Angelus Vista in Los Angeles.
To make this affordable housing development truly unique, developer Holos Communities carefully converted an existing Craftsman home — originally built in 1910 — into 8 apartments with an addition of a three-story wing with 12 more apartments including a manager's unit. All 19 units will serve Veteran households: 12 units for those experiencing chronic homelessness earning at 15% and 30% of the area median income (AMI), two units for those with a disability at 30% AMI, one unit at 45% AMI, and two units at 60% AMI. Combining historic architectural elements and contemporary interiors celebrates both classic and modern designs to enhance resident well-being and stability.
NEF extends our sincere gratitude to our investor partners at Ally Bank and Banner Bank for helping make Steps on St. Andrews a reality in service to our shared mission to create and preserve affordable housing.
