A couple weeks ago, NEF’s Emily Chen and Tony Lyons attended the ribbon cutting of The Rise in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Developed by Xenolith Partners in collaboration with the Women's Prison Association and the Brownsville Partnership, The Rise is a 72-unit mixed use affordable housing development that also offers permanent supportive housing for formerly incarcerated individuals and their families.

All apartments are restricted to households earning at or below 60 percent of the AMI and 47 units are set aside for criminal-justice involved women and their families. Supportive services include job trainings, health and wellness care and mental health services.

Thank you to our incredible partners at Xenolith and our mission-driven investors at TD for your steadfast dedication to this development and to vulnerable populations who deserve access to safe, stable housing. And, thanks to all of the local and state leaders - including Governor Kathy Hochul - and community members who advocated for this development.

As Emily mentioned in her speech, “The Rise is just starting its life as a part of this community. We expect the residents to grow and thrive with this neighborhood for years to come.”
