Recently, our partners at DePaul joined state and local officials for an open house celebration of the Mosaic Apartments in Schenectady, New York.
The Mosaic Apartments offer 60 affordable housing units with 30 units providing permanent supportive housing to individuals experiencing homelessness as well as adults with mental illness.
All units are wheelchair accessible, with 15 ADA units and 3 Hearing and Visually Accessible (HVA) units. Amenities include a community room, lounges, and a computer lab. Additionally, the development is located near local conveniences such as grocery stores, schools, medical care, banks, and libraries. Residency includes on-site housing specialists who are available to teach independent living skills and assist residents with access to community services and resources.
Within the halls of the development reads a quote from President Jimmy Carter:
"We become not a melting pot but a beautiful mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams.”
