Mosaic Apartments is now open in the heart of Oakland, marking Western Pennsylvania’s first LGBTQ+ friendly affordable senior housing community, and only the second in the state.
This vibrant five‑story building offers 48 one‑ and two‑bedroom apartments for seniors aged 62 and up, all with income‑eligible rents backed by PHFA and Housing Authority support. Developed by Presbyterian SeniorCare Network in partnership with Affirmative Investments, Inc., Mosaic was co-designed with LGBTQ+ elders to ensure a safe, welcoming environment.
Residents can enjoy covered parking, bike storage, and community gathering spaces, along with easy access to transit, medical facilities, and cultural institutions tailored to LGBTQ+ specific needs. The building’s colorful, inclusive design reflects a broader commitment to belonging and equity. Mosaic Apartments isn’t just housing, it’s a place where seniors can build community, thrive with dignity, and live their authentic lives.
Congratulations to our partners for leading the way in creating inclusive affordable housing for seniors, and a special thanks to Debbie Burkart for representing NEF!
