Last month, NEF's Jacob Kayser and Rodney Pruitt joined our partners at Full Circle Communities, Inc and Visionary Ventures as well as state and local officials to celebrate the groundbreaking and blessing of Jigzibik, a seven story, 45-unit development in the Irving Park neighborhood of Chicago.
Jigzibik, which means "at the river's edge," is Irving Park’s first affordable housing development tailored towards the Native American community, though not all units are exclusively for Indigenous households. Three units are dedicated to providing permanent supportive housing with the goal of helping transition individuals from homelessness into a safe and stable home. Amenities include 16 parking spaces, 45 bicycle parking spots, a rooftop garden, on-site laundry, an art and maker space, fitness room, a community room and kitchen, and culturally sensitive social services.
Congratulations to all involved in the groundbreaking of this culturally important development! Learn more about Jigzibik here.
