NEF's Lydia Smith, Taylor Thorn, and Lisa Taylor joined developer Mark James of Urban Green, LLC and Mayor Bowser for the ribbon cutting of Cycle House. This 18-unit affordable housing development is the first net-zero, 100% affordable building in Washington, DC and its name is representative of the amenities provided to encourage bicycle-friendly living, including free bicycle storage for each unit and bicycle-friendly elevators.

This development is part of NEF's AHEAD initiative, which was established in order to build the financial capacity and experience of non-traditional developers to help them overcome today’s high barriers of entry in accessing LIHTC to create new affordable housing.
