ABOUT VETERAN’S HOUSING
On any given night, nearly 40,000 homeless veterans sleep on America’s streets. They suffer from deteriorating health, brain injuries from IEDs, combat-related disabilities, addictions and other lifelong medical problems. We are working to end homelessness among our brave men and women and their families.
National Equity Fund® has demonstrated over the last several years that we know how to successfully complete supportive housing developments for homeless veterans. We established and cultivated relationships at the Veterans’ Administration and HUD in connection with key programs needed to finance these projects and assist developers in accessing the available funding to expedite development.
Bring them HOMES Veterans Initiative
Along with our parent company, LISC, we initiated Bring Them Homes in 2012 in an effort to expand and accelerate our program of creating affordable, permanent, safe and sustainable homes with supportive services for our veterans.
Since that time, we have raised in excess of $4.3 million, which includes nearly $4 million in grants. With support from Citi Community Development, MetLife Foundation, Northrop Grumman and The Home Depot Foundation, Bring Them Homes has expanded into 15 states, built more than 50 developments and created 4,343 residences to meet the needs of homeless veterans since its inception.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) report that the number of veterans experiencing homelessness has decreased 47 percent since 2010. So our work is making an impact, but the need for more permanent supportive housing still remains. Read more about our Bring Them Homes program.
Our veterans deserve a place to call home.
Working with NEF and LISC on the initiative, Citi Salutes is proud to support Veteran New Beginnings in Chicago as well as all veterans and military families.
